Health Tip: Keep Your Heels Happy
(HealthDay News) -- Heels can take a beating from a range of activities, including heavy impact exercise or wearing poorly fitted shoes.
The American Podiatric Medical Association offers these suggestions to keep heel pain in check:
-
Take a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medication to help manage pain.
-
Use splints at night.
-
Wear custom orthotic insoles, or
similar over-the-counter products.
-
Use gel supports designed to cup the heel.
Heel pain that persists without improvement should be evaluated by a medical professional.
