How Does Multiple Myeloma Spread?

Multiple myeloma tends to stay in the bone marrow. It affects areas of the body where bone marrow is present. Here are some of the most common areas that may be affected.

  • Spine

  • Ribs

  • Skull

  • Pelvis

  • Femur

In rare cases when multiple myeloma spreads outside of the bones, it may go to the soft tissues of the body and be present as a single tumor. This is called an extramedullary plasmacytoma.
