According to the National Diabetes Education Program, these things can cause your blood glucose levels to increase higher than normal:

  • Eating more than usual

  • Eating foods that contain a lot of sugar

  • Exercising less than you normally do

  • Stress

  • Illness

  • Certain medications

  • Missing your dose of diabetes medication
